PORTRAITS
     For my final photography series, I have decided on doing a series of portraits. Portrait photography was introduced by Louis Daguerre in 1839. That same year a guy named Robert Cornelius produced what is considered the first self-portrait. Portriats can very very techincal. For portraits other than full body you should be using a lens with the focal length any where from 35 to 85mm. On upper body or close up shots, too much of a wide angle could distort facial features, too much zoom how ever will make the imagine flat. If your taking portraits indoors you need to be mindful of your lighting. Near a window, with flash or if you have studio lights are ideal depending on your indoor lighting conditions. When taking outdoor portraits aviod shooting directly into the sun, find a shady location. Overcast conditions are perfect for taking portraits. Keep in mind that sunlight in the late afternoon or early morning is softer and warmer which, makes it ideal for portrait photog…

1) Describe who David Hockney is and how he became well-known.
David Hockney is an English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, and photographer. In June 1967, he painted "A Bigger Splash" which is considered the painting that jump started his career. With the success of his painting he then created the first "joiner."
2) Explain the similarities and differences between David Hockney's "joiners" and your phone's "pano" mode.      Your phone's "pano" mode and David Hockney's "Joiners" are very similar and very different. Both are photographs that are stitched together to create a brand new image. Pano mode uses your phone which automatically stitches it together for you. Joiners however are basically a DIY project you can do at home.
